To raise awareness to book banning and censorship in South Carolina, we are partnering with local bookstores to host a one-time book club across the state.
Banned Books Week 2026 is right around the corner! To raise awareness to book banning and censorship in South Carolina, we are partnering with local bookstores to host a one-time book club across the state on October 7th at 5:30pm. We will come together with community members in the Upstate, Midlands, and Lowcountry to discuss the book Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi. In 2022, the Pickens County School District Board of Trustees voted to remove Stamped from every classroom, library, and media center in the district for five years.
